Longford Primary Care Centre, Coventry

Located in Longford on the outskirts of Coventry, Longford Primary Care Centre provides services to the local area and wider neighbourhood. The £4m facility was one of the first Coventry Care Partnerships’ (CCP) developments, built in 2006 it combines three GP practices as well as community health and pharmacy services.

Longford Primary Care Centre brings together services for the locality, as well as a range of community based Primary Care services for the wider north east neighbourhood of Coventry.

CCP worked closely with the local community, to ensure the look and feel of the building worked within the surroundings.

Longford Primary Care Centre was built through the Local Improvement Finance Trust (LIFT) framework by CCP which is a public private partnership company.

CCP provide facilities management and life cycle replacement services for Longford Primary Care Centre, the building and grounds are maintained to a high standard over a 25 year period.

These services are provided through a 25 year contract by our supply chain partner Integral UK Ltd, the contract is actively managed and reported on by our internal Business Performance Team to ensure a good level of service. Any problems are reported to a 24 hour helpdesk and dealt with in accordance with a strict set of timescale parameters, failure to respond within the agreed targets could result in rooms being declared unavailable for use by the tenants, which would incur a financial penalty payable by the FM company.

A good on-going relationship exists between CCP and the users of the building, this is demonstrated through the regular Tenants Meetings which are held as an opportunity to raise concerns and provide feedback as to the performance of the building. Regular tenants feedback is provided through a process of interviews aimed at understanding and improving the user experience, and benchmark our tenants satisfaction levels in comparison to those in our national portfolio.

A sensible approach is taken with regard to the need for minor changes within these types of buildings and the tenants, FM company and CCP work together to identify the best approach on a case by case basis. CCP have undertaken a project to fit solar panels to some of our estate, this allows our partners to make savings on on-going energy costs.

Transforming Community Services

Longford Primary Care Centre brings together services for the locality, as well as a range of community based Primary Care services for the wider north east neighbourhood of Coventry, providing the population in this area access to a range of clinical services that would not have been possible within a standalone GP practice.

A Centre for the Whole Community

CCP worked closely with the local community, to ensure the look and feel of the building worked within the surroundings. The local community played an active role in the development of the building design. The new facility was built on the site of the Griffin Public House, at the request of the local community the original Delph ceramic Griffin sign was incorporated into the new building.

Partnership Working

Longford Primary Care Centre was built through the Local Improvement Finance Trust (LIFT) framework by CCP which is a public private partnership company.

Through partnership working with both NHS Coventry and the individual practices, CCP were able to realise the vision of providing purpose built, flexible space to deliver a range of services to the locality.
