The aim of this club is to assist young persons, through their leisure time activities, to develop towards their full potential particularly in their physical, mental and spiritual capacities so that they may continue to grow in maturity as individuals and members of society and that their quality of life may thus be improved and in furtherance of that objective to provide in Coventry a centre for sporting and leisure time activities, meetings, lectures and classes for the benefit of young persons.
The grant will be spent on hiring in specialist staff to work with a number of young people on mental health and well-being. The staff we hire in will work alongside our youth club to enable us to provide specialist sessions alongside our current youth club provision.
Our youth clubs use sports, music and arts to bring in young people from the most deprived communities in Coventry; Spon End, Willenhall, Wood End, Manor Farm, Stoke Aldermoor, Canley, Tile Hill and Hillfields.
This is supported by our mini bus pick up and drop off service which is a necessity to bring young people out of their communities to our centre. The specialist staff will provide the expertise and additional support our young people need, at the minute they attend our youth club as somewhere to come and get away from their trouble.
But there is no additional support we can offer due to cost and number of young people attending the sessions. The additional staff we employ will work within the youth club setting on a Monday from 4:30pm till 7pm, Thursday 4:00 till 9pm and Friday 4:30pm till 7:00pm. An area will be made available in the club for them to host workshops talks and one to one sessions where needed with resources to hand to support the young people.
