In July, colleagues joined the Board of Directors of MaST LIFTCo on their annual Health & Safety tours. Representatives from Community Health Partnerships, Salford City Council, NHS Greater Manchester Integrated Care Board, OCS and local management teams visited The Vallance Centre, Higher Openshaw Health Centre, Cheetham Hill Primary Care Centre, and Pendleton Gateway to gain first-hand insight into how these facilities support the delivery of healthcare and community services across the region.

The tours provided an opportunity to engage with staff, review the buildings and their operational performance, discuss local priorities and challenges, and reinforce the importance of maintaining safe, effective, and high-quality environments for patients, staff, and visitors. They also highlighted the value of collaborative working between partners in supporting the long-term success of the NHS LIFT estate and how our facilities support the delivery of healthcare, community services, and integrated care across Greater Manchester and Salford.

The tours allow the Board to engage directly with frontline staff and service users, understand local priorities, discuss challenges and opportunities, and review how our buildings continue to meet the needs of the communities they serve. They also provide an opportunity to review health and safety arrangements, building condition, compliance activities, and ongoing investment programmes while reinforcing the importance of collaboration between healthcare providers, asset managers, facilities teams and stakeholders.

Seeing how these facilities operate day-to-day helps ensure that future decisions made are informed by the experiences of those using the buildings and services every day. It also highlights the significant role that NHS LIFT buildings continue to play in supporting modern, accessible, and integrated healthcare environments.

A huge thank you to the local teams who welcomed us, shared their experiences, and showcased the fantastic work being delivered from these facilities. Their insight and commitment are instrumental in helping us continuously improve the environments from which essential services are delivered.
