This Christmas, the gbp foundation is making donations to 12 good causes and charities that are close to the hearts of our staff.
On the fifth day of gbp’s 12 days of Christmas giving, a donation of £200 is on its way to the Alzheimer’s Society, a care and research charity supporting people with dementia and their carers.
Alzheimer’s Society provide critical support to people throughout their experiences with dementia. For both carers and people living with the condition, the charity means that they can access expert support over the phone and in person.
gbp Group Reporting Accountant, Miah Suemul, nominated the charity for a donation from the gbp foundation as it is particularly close to her heart, with both of her grandparents and great grandparents suffering from Alsheimer's.
Miah commented:
“There are instances where you are having a normal conversation with the person and then in the very next moment, they have forgotten who you are. It is a disease where you completely lose a person right in front of your eyes in such a short space of time. We have had to use the charity on multiple occasions to get support and help as to what can be done with my grandparents to provide them with the best level of care.”
The donation will support the charity in its investment into ground-breaking research for better ways of caring and treating those with dementia, challenge perceptions, and improve care and support. We hope that the donation makes a difference to those in need.
