Student apartment block given the green light

G3S Living has secured planning permission for a prominent student apartment block in Coventry with space for more than 420 students within a 19-storey tower.

Birmingham-based Joint-Venture G3S Living has been granted planning approval from Coventry City Council on land adjacent to the Ramada Hotel. Subject to funding, construction work is scheduled to commence on site later this year, with the scheme ready for the 2023 autumn student intake.

A total of 329 cluster bedrooms and 94 one-bedroom studios will be included in the building. Also featured are a sky lounge dining and roof terrace with a 270-degree view, reception and office, presentation room, games room, break-out space and laundry. A total of 140 secure cycle spaces and six disabled car parking spaces form part of the plans which would create seven full-time and three part-time jobs.

G3S is a joint venture between gbpartnerships, 3 Willows and Shorwell Projects. The JV partners collectively bring together skills and track record in planning, design, development, construction management, asset management and the financial control of projects across various sectors including residential and student accommodation.

Ian Tuddenham, Development Director at gbpartnerships commented:

“We are extremely pleased to be able to submit this fantastic scheme for planning approval. Being only a 7-minute walk from the city centre and with the main university campus only 5 minutes further out, this will prove an excellent location for students. We have worked hard along with IDP Architects to ensure the building offers both outstanding accommodation and exciting social spaces. The sky lounge and roof terrace are sure to offer amazing views across Coventry and Warwickshire and will really enhance the student social experience. Visiting parents have the convenience of the 4* Ramada Hotel next door. This is our 3rd JV with 3 Willows, and we are once again working brilliantly in close partnership to bring this forward.”
