Eccles event gets to the heart of the issues…

Last night we welcomed Andy Burnham, Mayor of Greater Manchester to an event hosted by MaST Estates Partnership and Bury, Tameside and Glossop Estates Partnership in Eccles. Chaired by Lord Keith Bradley, the event considered how we can work together to best utilise the existing primary and community care estate across Greater Manchester to support the NHS and Local Authorities to deliver improved health outcomes for local communities. Andy delivered an inspiring and timely keynote speech, followed by Charlotte Douglass - MaST and BTG Board member - who responded to the challenges Andy put forward for the development of a truly integrated ‘live well service’ across Greater Manchester and the role that the primary and community estate has in increasing access for communities to a universal service. Joining the lively panel discussion with challenges from the floor, were CHP’s Chief Executive Wendy Farrington-Chadd and gbpartnerships’ Chief Executive, Elaine Siew. Given the current significant challenges we are facing across the UK, particularly in places like Eccles, the event provided a timely reminder of the issues and how rapid change can be delivered, as was shown through the pandemic. The meeting ended with a shared commitment to focus on maintaining the level of urgency to drive change.

Action for Children were also represented at the event, the charity was supported recently with a donation from MaST. Action for Children’s Northwest Fostering service offers placements to children and young people.

On behalf of MaST Estates Partnership and Bury, Tameside and Glossop Estates Partnership, we’d like to thank everyone joined us at the event, the speakers and panellists. Also, thanks to the event sponsors, Integral and FES.

More details about the event and resulting actions will be shared in the coming weeks.
