gbpartnerships foundation is extremely proud to support the Sea Cadets and the ‘On The Water’ programme, being held in Liverpool, Birmingham and London this summer.
On The Water is now in full swing, providing hundreds of young people from disadvantaged backgrounds with opportunities that would not normally be open to them. The programme is being held in three targeted areas:
400 children in London, Royal Docks – having run the successful pilot in 2019, it proved the demand and impact could make a real difference.
400 children in Liverpool, Crosby – opening On the Water to young people in Merseyside: An area of high deprivation, the third most health-deprived area in the country, and over one in five children living in poverty.
400 children in Birmingham, Edgbaston Reservoir - A neighbourhood containing some of the most deprived areas in the country, with rates of childhood poverty rising to 30-50%, and 81% of families on low income.
The programme of free activities including sailing, rowing, paddlesports and more, enables young people the chance for exercise and fun, but most importantly longer-lasting benefits of increased confidence, new friends, and expanded horizons. This is especially critical now, as young people emerge from a prolonged lockdown, that they have the right opportunities available to them. Watch the video to find out more about On the Water:
We have lots of exciting plans and ideas for how we can work with and support this fabulous cause over the coming 12months. If you would like to find out more or discuss how you can get involved, please contact Wendy Spencer or Becky Jones.
